I am planning to buy some ram for my pc.
The ram I want to buy is 2nd hand but it's a nice deal. Its cheaper then most of the 8gb ram package. Its a single 16gb ram stick. The owner told me its new but its not compatible with his motherboard.
My motherboard is the Asrock 970 extreme 3
The specification of the ram is:

Productcode: SNPMGY5TC/16G
Specifications: 240-pin DIMM, DDR3 PC3L-10600R memory module
Package: 240-pin DIMM
Feature: DDR3 PC3L-10600R
Specs: DDR3 PC3L-10600R CL=9 Registered ECC DDR3-1333 Rank 2 1.35V

I looked in the compatible suport list and there is not a single dell ram. Does anybody know if the ram is compatible, or is there a hugh risk in buying it?

Believe your mobo takes up to 8GB sticks (4 total) and Non-ECC DRAM, this stick is ECC and 16GB, made for Dell Poweredge rigs

The specifiation list says that the mobo can support up to 64 gig of ram, with 4 slots of ram. But the thing is, its dell ram and i dont know anything about dell ram and its hard to find info about dell ram. So its not compatible?

You could drop the Rock and E-Mail and ask, but most PC based mobos run Non-ECC DRAM and this is ECC (mainly aimed at servers) for the Error Correcting capabilities
