A new gpu for my computer will arrive today, and I was wondering, since I currently have onboard graphics currently on my PC, do I need to do any extra steps? (Besides physically installing the gpu) I know I need drivers for the gpu but should I remove drivers for the onboard GPU? And should I do this before or after I install the GPU?
Thanks,
Equitem
P.S. I'm new to this. First time installing a GPU to a pre built system

No you shouldn't have any problems with it. All you need to do is install the card physically and then select that as the primary display port from the BIOS settings. After that install the drivers where windows will recognize your newly installed hardware. From beyond that point, you will be utilizing the full scale of your discrete graphics and onboard graphics won't conflict with it.

That's how it used to be some years back, not sure if the BIOS thing is automatically detected or set without any user interaction with the latest MOBOs these days. You can even disable the onboard graphics from device manager, if you want to.

Unplug the pc power cord from the wall.
Wait for a few minutes
Install the gpu in the pcie socket
Unplug the DVI/HDMI/Displayport/etc cable from the rear motherboard I/O port
Plug the cable to the correct gpu port
boot to your operating system
install the necessary drivers
reboot if necessary
you are ready to go
