Hi,

I have recently acquired my brothers old PC so that i can game on it, however, when trying to play the game it states that it cannot find a suitable graphics card to run the game. So i looked into this a bit more(knowing nothing about pc's at all) and it seems that the graphics card isnt recognised by the pc anymore - even though my brother gamed on the PC for years and years before he got an upgrade this xmas. When running a DxDiag check, its states under the display tab: Device - N/A in all the fields. Moreover, when looking for the graphic card in the device manager, it again isnt recognised and states under display adapters - 'standard VGA graphics Adapter'. Interestingly though, under device status it states this device cannot start (code 10) which i understand is a driver issue?

So i tried to find the correct driver on this website but when i try and install it, a message states 'this grpahics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware'? therefore i am so confused how to get this graphics card working so i can actually game.

Not sure if this extra information helps, but i am using a Bush HD TV as a monitor and everything apart from games appears to be working. Also i have tried manually removing and reinserting the graphics card using a youtube 'how too' video.

I think the graphics card is a nvidia pegatron (thats all that it says on the actual card anyway).

In anyone with any knowledge on this issue could help me out i would be very grateful for your time.

Thanks

Dominic

before you remove anything ensure you've download the drivers (and a least have the on a USB drive or you desktop)

Use the Device Manager (right click on my computer and then select Device Manager)
Go to the Display Adapter and select the card (and then right click and choose properties)
In the second tab [Driver] YOU SHOULD see the option uninstall

Reboot your computer and then the machine will tell that you have new hardware (ignore) and then procee with installing the driver (where ever you originally save them

i am unsure which drivers to download though?

this is the issue though, the pc is not recognizing the card and therefore the Nvidia drivers wont download as they say the hardware isnt in place. when i go on device manager, display adapters. it says that the card is a standard VGA adapter and it also has a yellow caution triangle with an '!' in it. i will try to uninstall it as you said though

ok so i hit uninstall on the 'standard VGA graphics adapter' and rebooted the pc. however, now it is still in the device manager: display adapters, and still has the warning symbol next to it.
