im buying a i5 proccessor and a new mother board im wondering if i should spend the extra 80 dollars to get overclockable parts. i currently have a r9 270x and will i really get that much more performance with light overclocking? or should i just not spend the extra 80 thanks.

Nah, with an R9 270X a Core i5 at stock will do just fine. So you don't really need it. It may help out if/when you upgrade the 270X in a few years, but it's completely optional. Especially since Haswell doesn't overclock very much anyway.
