I want to know with these two graphics cards which would be really the better option.
ASUS DirectCU II GTX770-DC2OC-4GD5 GeForce GTX 770 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
EVGA 03G-P4-3788-KR GeForce GTX 780 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support Classified w/ EVGA ACX Cooler Video Card
Right now the Asus is $370, while the EVGA is $550.
I know that the evga is 780 but will it be giving me that much more performance for the extra $180 and doesn't the Asus have a better memory so it would refresh better than the 780?
Last question would there be a better option for my purchase or are these pretty good 770 and 780 cards out there?

Solution

The Asus card has more memory, but not really better memory. And there's not going to be a difference between having 3 or 4 GB in the foreseeable future, unless you play at very high resolution (across multiple monitors, or on a 4K display).

You could grab an R9 290 with a good cooler. Faster than the GTX 780, and comes with 4 GB memory if that's still important to you. Unfortunately costs a bit more than the GTX 780 in the US...

Yes it will give you much more performance.
It doesn't matters whether it is ASUS or EVGA. Nvidia makes the components like PCB,RAM,Core, etc. OEMs (ASUS and EVGA) make a custom cooler for the GPU, OC it a bit, and ship it. I've never heard of people saying ASUS have better memory before. FYI, ASUS is more about OEM.

GPUs don't depend on the memory refresh rate. it depends on the RAM size and the GPU core. 780's RAM and 770's RAM is the same. They are 4GB DDR5 which is fast enough.

You can check AMD's card if you are on a budget. You can get Sapphire's r9 290X for $599 which is faster than 780.

Hope this help

Ya didn't mean to say better as in quality but as more like you said Sakkura. Thanks for the info guys cause I know the increase in performance between 770 and 780 is small but just wanted to see if the memory 1 GB would play any significant role in an gaming increase. I think I will go with the Asus to save some money and put it toward a new PSU cause only have antec 500w right now.
