i want to upgrade my computer...as far as i know my pc motherboard is H57M01 1156..can i install an ssd to my current setup?

I recently put an SSD in a parents pc which had sata 2, the same thought went through my head. Although it won't be at full speed it will still be much faster than an HDD and you will definitely notice it. As you will not get full speed dont waste money on an expensive ssd as it will be not faster than a cheaper one due to the sata 2 restraint.

somebody in my area suggest me to not upgrade to ssd bcoz my motherboard dont have sata3 port so my new ssd will revert back to sata 2 then the ssd performance will downgrade too...is it true?
