I hope I am in the right thread, please excuse if not. My question is with gpu render times in programs like blender 3D. I have a gtx 760 4gb evga ftw card and my render times are less then half of the online tutor's render time. If I am using gpu render in cycles with blender, would there be any benefit moving up from my i7-3770k cpu to a i7-4930k (yes, i know it is a complete system upgrade). I also understand that I could install another gpu without using sli to get both cards rendering at same time instead of two acting as one. Would just like some input as to what direction to upgrade.

Solution
For such heavily parallel tasks the GPU rendering is much more effective than on the CPU. So getting another GPU is the way to go. It will be much more benefitial than upgrading your platform.

Yes, thank you for your reply, I use autodesk 3ds, adobe cs6 creative cloud, cinema 4d and soon will be working with maya in class at college, but not really good at any of 'em, but they sure are fun. My concern is that the gpu rendering offshoot would continue and not fizzle out. I love the 3770k, it's amazing. I have in no way maxed it out at all (oc'd to 4.2) and I think I will take your advice and just get another card for now.
