Well if your getting a haswell cpu (for a i7-4770k CPU) you'd have to get a Z87 Mobo, but if your getting a ivy bridge (for a i7-3770k CPU) you'd get a Z77 Mobo. I wouldn't chose the Gigabyte Z87 (GA-G1.SNIPER M5) seeing as i would suggest for a haswell cpu a Asus Maximus iv Hero mobo. I wouldn't suggest an ivy bridge CPU as the have less potential compared to a Haswell CPU e.g. i7-3770k V i7-4770k

Either one of those boards should be able to run the GTX770 SLI just fine. It all depends on what CPU you plan on using. Z77 boards use the 3xxx series CPU's using the 1155 socket and the Z87 board uses the 4xxx CPU's with the 1150 socket.

But like i said GPU wise, and running SLI they both work equally good.

For the Z77A-GD65 i would recommend the i5 3570K
For either the Asus Maximus VI Hero (Z87) or the Gigabyte Z87 GA-G1.SNIPER M5 i would recommend the i5 4670K

Both CPU's let you overclock and generally overclock well. And they are a match for the respective motherboards.

Just get some kind of an aftermarket cooler for it. Starting from Xigmatek Gaia and Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO.
Lots of possibilities on that front. Even if you don't overclock now, it will greatly improve the sound profile of the CPU cooling.

Sorry about that mistake i was half asleep and watching my fix of doctor who :D. Well yes the Maximus "VI" Hero can handle GTX770's in SLI seeing as their are 2 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x16 or dual x8, red) its worth noting ASUS ROG mobo's are the best "ultimate" gaming motherboards in my opinion, but the are pricey. Heres the specs if you wanna have a look: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VI_HERO/#specifications
