Hi Guys.

I have a strange issue with my computer today. The computer cannot seem to find the harddrive unless I access the BIOS first. I was hoping someone else has experienced this before and can point me in the right direction.

So far, I have tried:
- Connecting to different SATA ports
- Connecting to other PSU ports.
- Replacing the CMOS Battery.

I also have tested this hard drive on another computer, and it returned no errors.

Sorry, I don't know what category this post falls under, so I slipped it under Windows 7, since this is the OS I'm running on the computer in question.

Thank you, please let me know if more information is required.

So what exactly is it that you do when you have to go into BIOS before finding your hard drive and successfully booting? Or is it just entering BIOS and then exiting without changing anything that does the trick?

Is your PC losing it's BIOS settings after being powered down and all power removed from the case? If so then your CMOS battery (3 volt) is probably dead, as that's what keeps your BIOS settings preserved when all power is removed from the PC (otherwise a little trickle of power enters the PC and keeps BIOS settings preserved in CMOS).

All I do is enter the BIOS and exit without changing anything. Also, the BIOS settings aren't being lost either, which is why this issue has really stumped me. I have also already replaced the CMOS battery just in case, and still the same problem.

Thanks for replying.

Mine is a regular 3.5" 7200K rpm hard drive though. HMMM this is so very strange.
