do i need to hook up my monitor to my video card or my motherboard

I purchased a monitor and i was wondering if i should hook up the monitor to the graphics card or the mobo and why should i hook up the monitor to one of the other also if i use a vga to dvi adapter will it affect performance at all?

Hook it up to the video card, it is better and use dvi. Its the next generation display port after vga.

Video card has better performance than internal graphics and the reason dvi is better to use than vga is... check this youtube video:
