Not getting what payed for, 5 megabits but getting 200kb

Hi so i have a 5megabit internet but thats not what im getting, im getting 200Kb
If i get a 25Megabit internet would i still be getting 200Kb and why am i getting 200kb?

How are you measuring that 200kbps? Go to Speedtest.net and try it there.
Wired or wireless?
Cable/DSL?

5 Megabits per second. There are 8 bits in one byte. You download at most 5 Mbps = 625 kBps. Lowercase b should refer to bits while uppercase B should refer to bytes. Either way you should get more than what you stated. Run that speedtest and give us your results.

Kk my speed test i did it i got 5.02 megabits kk thx
But if i get a 25 megabit internet how much megabytes would i be getting?

Theoretically, around 25megabits per second. Assuming you have a non-sucky ISP.

Also, realize that download 'speed' for a specific file from a specific location also depends on everything in the chain, including the source server. If their pipe is overloaded, what you personally will get will be slow.

Well. Now we have a different issue - WiFi. You appear to be getting a crappy connection between you and the WiFi source (the router).

WiFi connectivity issues are usually an environmental concern. Building construction, distance, what is in between.

Ideally, you'd use a Cat5 cable.

Will that cat5 cable go all the way to reach the router downstairs? And than there will be 1 ling wore coming out of my room downthe stairs and to the router room,or is it thin ?
