My laptop (win 7/64) doesn't have a graphic card; its built in to the board. So do I really need Catalyst.?

No laptop has a discrete graphics card. They are all onboard chipsets which, as pcie graphics cards need, require drivers in order to operate properly. So NO you do not want to delete catalyst.
