I am curious what it would take and if it's possible to have this technology come along.
I am not sure this is in the right forum spot. But, I got too thinking about this a bit with all the extra devices being made and such come around. I'd love to know what it would take for "power" integration between devices. Even if it was a specific line up of devices or something.
I'm curious given all the new mobility coming around we're not seeing any talk about this type of full integration across devices. Seems like we're still stuck on the software level integration.
Obvious we're a long time away from this in the wireless environment, but even in a physical connection. How far away are we really?

NAS is basically integration of Hard drives, in a sense. It's a start to the idea of what I think would be nice to have and hope we find some day.

Software and drivers are there to ensure smooth hardware operation and make sure that the components can understand each other. Furthermore, they supply the user with vital information regarding the operational status, condition and performance of the components, and can be used to amend and check their operational limits. I don't thing that your "vision" is plausible simply because the one cannot work without the other..

I'd think of it as a virtually configured integration where the host computer this hardware is installed is part of the integration itself. Would probably involve a type of software to "push" the hardware across local devices. I've thought this would work through an internet type structure, but obviously our current speeds/latency wouldn't be sufficient. I don't think it's improbable or impossible. Just a bit away given current connectivity means between devices.

I have various thoughts on it. Here's one.

Look at it as a list of devices on software that acts similar to how you would use Vmware player. You'd connect to a device and specify the hardware and set any limits. This hardware's power is then pushed to the device. Like I said I'm pretty sure the only issue is via connectivity more than anything. I'm sure it could be made, proper connectivity for this. But, it would be very expensive as is everything initially.
Then of course this would also come back to the OS level integration. Sync each device more, maintaining privacy. I'm hoping the Ubuntu Mobile OS will help on this regard.
