I hope this question makes since but I have Asus maximus extreme mb and it only has 2 intel sata 6gbs slots on it and 2 sata 3 slots. Right now I have 4 SSDs 120gb capacity each configured in 2 sata 3's and 2 sata 6gb's slots set up on a raid 0. I am thinking of upgrading to larger capacity SSDs and still raid 0 with just 2 instead of 4. Would my speed capacity be the same or slower or faster. Any input on this will be much appreciated.

Someone chime up if im wrong but I thought the MB had 6x Sata3 6Gbs slots controlled by Z87 chipset and another 2 or 4 controlled by an ASmedia controller.
I thought they were all 6Gbps.
Just use whichever ones are controlled by Z87.
Usually the higher capacity versions of SSDs perform better than smaller versions, but this is something you're only likely to notice during a benchmark.

it has 6 6gGbps all together 2 are Z87 and 4 are ASmedia controller. I mainly use the raid to get the max amount of space. I don't know if it helps with running games in 3d with 3 27" monitors. My main goal is for my computer to be fast. I want it to be so fast that it makes other fast computers look not so fast. lol
