Hey guys! Here is my set-up

i5-4670k CPU
H80i Water cooling
asus z87-k motherboard
16 gig 2400mhz ram
GTX 770
128 gig SSD
1TB 7200RPM

And other stuff.

So i was able to OC it to 4.4 with a voltage of 1.175 ( Could probably even go lower if i test it out more ) And it looks pretty stable i ran IBT at Very high for 20 cycles with success, And max temp during the cycles was 75C

Now what's the maximum you guys were able to get it stabled at? I want to try 4.6 to 4.7, What kind of voltage do you guys give at that speed? Also is there anything else in the Bios i need to change beside sync all cores, xmp ram profile and the min/max cpu cache, Max volt. Anything else? Thanks!

Solution

i would say yes to 4.4ghz @ 1.175v for less heat output. you won't notice a big difference even if you get a lower cpu :p gpu does most of the work in games.

that is ideal temps for your cpu. I wouldn't bother overclocking cpu when temps start to fall beyond 80C temps at full load.
The time you are benchmarking your cpu, make sure you have selected Manual mode for cpu voltages. After everything is stable and you are happy with your results, just set your cpu voltage to adaptive mode.

Everything is stable at 4.4, I just want to know how much further i can OC this thing like 4.7? What kind of voltage would that take to start messing around with it?

required voltages varies from cpu to cpu you may require 1.25v up to 1.4v you won't know till you test.
since you already reached 75c i don't expect that you can raise the voltages alot.
btw did you adjust the cache ratio ??

Yes i put the min/max cache at 4.5, Currently testing 4.5 was able to do 10 cycles of IBT at Very high with success at 1.190v with max temp hitting 85C, But played Metro Last Light at full settings and never even hit close to that, Was getting 49C tops in game.

I should probably say that i am only using this PC for casual use and mostly gaming, Not rendering or anything so there's no way i would even come close to 85C in a game ( I am guessing? )

I think you shouldn't go for any higher voltage 85c is really close to the max
i know that when you play games you will have lower temps but stick with stress tests' temps
