Files and folders on USB stick have become shortcuts, how to retrieve them?

my resume was saved in my sister's laptop. so in order to send it to the employer where i'm applying, so i have to transfer my resume to my dad's laptop through a USB stick since my sister's laptop don't have an internet connection. But when i about to send and open the files in removable disk, all the files became a shortcut file,, how can i retrieve them so that i can send my resume now? pls help me!!!!

Err...that's unfortunate. First, right-click on one of the shortcuts, and select properties. Find out where the shortcut is pointing. If it is pointing to another location on the USB stick, you're lucky! Track the files down on the USB stick.

If the files are not on the USB stick.....well, you'll have to go back to your sister's laptop and transfer them again to the USB stick, taking care that the files are copied, and not just shortcuts made.
