Hi Guys,

I'm new here and not a techy person, just have to fix this issue I'm currently having. So please bare with me.. I have an ASUS CP3130(CPU) and an ASUS 20" LED, I bought another 20" Samsung LED last Friday.. My CPU doesn't have video card but as far as I'm aware it can handle dual monitors. The ports at the back are DVI-D,VGA and HDMI.. Both my monitor use VGA.. So I bought a DVI-D to VGA converter but the CPU doesn't detect the Samsung one.. After doing some research.. There are 2 types of adapters Passive and Active, I'm not sure what mine is? how would I know if it is passive or active. That's the 1st question..

2nd question, I also learned that there are more than 1 type of DVIs out there. Mine is DVI-D Dual Link which is a digital only port, I've read that you cannot convert/use an analog Monitor(VGA) to DVI-D CPU or port(Digital) using adapters? If that's true then what is the use of DVI-D to VGA adapters if it wont convert anyway? just got confuse with that lol..

3rd question, What should I do to make this work lol, it's been a week I'm trying to make this work hope you guys can help me out, if you need the specs of the PC to double check if it can handle dual monitors, you can google ASUS CP3130 and it should show up...

Thanks,

Does this look like passive? I just thought that it might be easier to just buy and use HDMI to VGA since it's quite diff to find an active DVI-D to VGA here in the Philippines. I'm not sure if there is passive or active also in HDMI converters, or all are active?
