Hello,
I recently replaced my r9 270x with a GTX 770 due to constant crashing/bluescreen of death. After installing the most recent driver, I restarted the computer. After windows loaded, the screen flickered followed by the computer completely freezing. This happens every time; I can't get on the desktop without disabling the driver. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I've tried:
Reinstalling drivers
Deleting the old drivers(including the AMD drivers)
Removing the video card, and putting it back in
Making sure power connectors are plugged in all the way
Switching display ports

Important PC specs:
CPU: AMD FX 6350
Motherboard: Asus M5A97 LE R2.0
PSU: ThermaltakeTP 750W
OS: Windows 7 64bit
Memory: 8gb ddr3 1866mhz

Your best bet is to remove the card, plug your display into the integrated port, and start the computer. If everything is super (everything starts and windows runs), then uninstall absolutely everything associated with the new card and the old. Restart once more. Assuming it's working, search Nvidia for drivers and (more importantly) instructions as to what order you should install drivers / install hardware. Get that straight and follow their lead. If it still doesn't work think about the age of the power supply. If it is new then it has more than enough capacity to run your machine. If it is old it may be fighting an uphill battle. Last option is your new card is faulty OR it is not seated well OR your PCI slot is faulty. There are so many options that you'll have to eliminate them one at a time.
Most likely (seeing all the test prove it) the card was bad out of the box. Ordinarily they are not complicated things and won't mess the whole system UNLESS they are faulty.

Best of luck.

The PSU is a month old.
I am on Windows 7.
I am using the latest drivers and bios.
I'm betting the graphics card is faulty; I can get a refund from Amazon and get a new one.

Do exactly that. We all know dud (brand new) components are such a headache. But dud cards aren't that uncommon.

Wish you luck
