I'm trying to build a sub $1k gaming rig and this is what I came up with.If anyone can comment, I mainly need to know if the cpu/gpu pair is balanced? If the PSU is enough? and if the case is big enough to fit all of it.

PS. it might say 870 total cost but after taxes and shipping it comes out to about 1000.

What are you trying to play with it? That's an important factor. As of now, seems pretty good to me. I would highly suggest a ssd as well. You could def get a better cpu though. I had the fx 6350, and I did not like it, Switched to a intel 4670. And it blasted my fps up.

No, the FX 6300 is as it is actually a better value than the FX 8320, because it cost less and in most games perform equally. Most games still don't support 8-cores, even though the Xbox One and PS4 is out with 8-core APUs.

The i5 would be the best choice, however if the OP is on a tight budget, then he should certainly hold onto the FX 6300 and use the money on a greater GPU.

The system is balanced and I myself would have no issue buying the same exact system. PSU is plenty, case if big enough, CPU and GPU are an okay match and everything seems to be fine. HOWEVER your mobo is waaaay too expensive for your needs. Get a much cheaper mobo than that, it won't increase performance and will not really provide anything useful for gaming.

That would be your best bet. The 8320 or 8350 would be a pretty small price difference, and be slightly behind the i5's when it comes to gaming performance. If you can afford it, get a 4670k with a decent z87 board, with a 770 youll be able to play almost any game on ultra, if only running a single monitor.

I intended on some some light overclocking, hence the mobo. ANy cheaper recommendations that could still overclock either the 6300 or the 8320 to 4.0 ?
