This is a problem I've had for quite some time, but it's getting more obvious when playing my highly modded Skyrim:
Whenever I reach a loading screen, the game stops responding. Looking at the task manager, I can see that Windows is allocating memory to TESV.exe, but it does so very slowly, at about 30MB/s. Considering that Skyrim often loads 1GB or more when changing locations, this is seriously slowing down my actual play time.
The problem was also obvious when playing Minecraft; I set Minecraft to use 3.75GB in the FtB launcher, and with Windows slowly allocating memory when the game started, it took several minutes for the game to actually start after launching it.
Have also noticed the game not responding in other games, like Civ IV and V, when the game requires more memory, like when ending turns in Civ.
Is my memory supposed to be this slow, or is there an obvious setting I'm ignoring?
My rig:
MB: ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
CPU: AMD FX-8350 Black Edition 4GHz
GFX: XFX Radeon HD 7870 2GB
Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3 1600MHz 2x8GB + Corsair Dominator DHX DDR3 1600MHz 2x4GB
OS: Windows 7 64bit
