+1. The 4930k is a far superior CPU at stock speeds, overclocking will only increase that gap.

4930K. No contest. 9590 is just overclocked 8350 so you won't be able to push it any further than it already is. And OC'ed 8350 can barely beat OC'ed 4670K in multitasking.

4930K at 5GHz would be ~40% faster than 9590 5GHz in multitasking software.

I'd go with the i7 because it has a lot more potential. The 9590 at 5GHz is about the same as a 3.4GHz 4930k. Imagine how much faster the 4930k @ 5GHz. It would destroy the 9590. I'm not trying to be a fanboy, I have an 8320 and it's a great CPU. But at the moment, Intel has got the lead.

The Intel Core i7 4930K although it is a 6 core CPU compared to the AMD FX 9590 which has 8 cores; will easily beat the AMD CPU because of Intel's superior x86 architecture.
Not being a fanboy, but I am just stating the truth.
If you are using a CPU for GAMING ONLY, then, the AMD FX 8350/9590 will be sufficient enough to be paired with a high end GPU to play modern games on 1080p or 4K resolution displays no problem.

But hands down on Intel in productivity and content creation.
