Hi, I have just built a PC and I need an OS. (preferably Windows 7). One of my friends said I needed the system builder version of it. Is this true?

No, you can use the retail version, but the System Builder (OEM) version is generally cheaper. The only difference between the two is that the OEM version does not include any tech support from Microsoft.
