Anyone have any issues installing Catalyst Control Center on this new APU under Windows 8.1 Pro? I've tried 13.301 (the current) as well as the new Beta 14.1. Both installations fail right after they state 'Installing display driver'. By fail, both monitors go black and the PC appears to be locked up. One monitor is DVI and the other could be on VGA or HDMI it makes not difference. Both are connected to integrated ports (no discreet GPU). A reset will boot again into Windows. My MB is MSI A88X-G43. Device Manager cannot detect the second display. It lists only one and shows the driver as 'Microsoft basic display adapter'. Without the proper driver, the twin displays are cloned with no option to extend the desktop. Of course this worked great on my old Intel Celeron Windows 7 machine with no special drivers.

amd newest driver is catalyst 13.12 with display driver 13.251. somethings not going right with your system. what I recommend is one uninstall catylist using amd unstaller 1.2 (its amd software but you will have to find it from a 3rd party as its no longer on amds site itself) then reboot computer and install catalyst 13.12 from amd site.

the uninstall program will make sure to remove all of amd drivers that might be left on your computer so you are doing a clean install. I have had issue with amd software installing if any old files and settings are still on the computer so everytime I upgrade I have to run this program before installing newest version.

Are you absolutely positive the screen goes black and the cpu locks up? The screen tends to go black when installing video drivers... Are you running in safe mode during installation?

The screen remains black and doesn't flicker. The PC never comes back or reboots on its own. I've left it to its own devices (as it were) for about 20 minutes. No, I didn't install under safe mode but ran the setup as administrator. One thing to note, my BIOS is 3.2 and there is a 3.3 available for it. The updater utility that came with MB says I am all up to date but I doubt it. I'm going to try and manually flash that myself. The release note for the BIOS upgrade lists: Improved CPU compatibility. No mention of the processors supported or Kaveri, but I suspect its needed. Thanks for the reply!

I'm having the same problem. My mobo is ga-f2a88x-up4 win8.1 64 a10-7850k. I have the latest bios f5c. I've seen people on other forums having the same problem. I've reinstalled windows 5 times now trying different things. I had a asrock a88x fatality killer and it was doing the same thing.

I have the same issue, but with a different motherboard (ASUS A55BM-E). I've found that If I install VNC or a similar remoting tool, there's simply no display detected over DVI, but the catalyst drivers succeeded. To get the machine to be usable I have to roll back the driver to the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.

So, I never did get this working. MSI tech support figured something had to be faulty in the graphics processor. I'm not convinced but did RMA the APU since I was out of time. Thank you Newegg! This is the first time I've tried an AMD build and I won't attempt it again. I don't mind tinkering with things to get them working, but this was ridiculous. I have replaced the motherboard with an MSI Z87-GD65 and an i7 4770K. I was happy to see the drivers on the included DVD install without issue, as did the latest Intel drivers I downloaded afterward. Other's mileage will vary I know. I'll be listing at processor and MB on Ebay. Drop me a line if interested and I'll send you a link. I would like to get $190 for the pair. The APU is NIB, and the MB ran Windows 7 Ultimate and 8.1 Pro stable without any issues as long as the Catalyst drivers were not used.

Thanks Max. I was using a dedicated hard drive for testing and did a complete re-install of Windows while trying to find a Catalyst version that would work. So I'm completely sure all the old drivers were gone each time. I tried installing all Catalyst versions (From MB DVD, AMD Site official release, AMD site beta) under Windows 7 Ultimate as well with the same results. Switching hdw added significantly to the build, but for me was much less of a headache,
