basically what the title says so if the radeon hd 7990 was $150/£100 cheaper than the gtx 780 ti which would you get. I will be using it for mostly extreme gaming, watching blu-rays/dvds, browsing the internet, video editing and high end projects.

Thank you

I would use the HD 7990, not only because Im an AMD fan but this says everything:

Hope this helps :)

I'd still get the 780ti. They didn't have the microstutter issue cleared up with the AMD cards at the hardware level until the R9 series, so I wouldn't even consider a multi-GPU setup with AMD prior to the R9 since whatever framerate advantage you might realize with the 7990 will be bogus and negated by the bad performance due to the dropped and runt frames associated with microstutter.

There are many published articles about this phenomenon. Also, Tom's had a 'Ask the manufacturer' session with the GPU people from AMD by which I asked the question about the microstutter in the newer cards being fixed. The answer I received is reflected in the second sentence of my response.

I should also add the AMD rep said the problems are not cleared up at a hardware level on those cards in the newer series which are R7s and R8s. It is cleared up at a hardware level on the R9 290 and 290xs, but not the R9 280s.

The others are said to require a software solution, but software solutions are far less effective or efficient than hardware solutions:
