Will using a 3-pin splitter still control fans?

I want to use 4 fans in my case, but my motherboard only has 3 headers, if I get a splitter like (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pin-Fan-Splitter-Cable-Female/d...) will both fans plugged into it still speed up or slow down based on the temperatures, I'd hate to have two fans (or just the one) running at 100%.

Both fans will receive the same voltage and thus they will spin at the speed the motherboard wants. The two fans together will draw twice the current (power in watts) as one fan would, but that should not be a problem for most motherboards.

In order for the motherboard to control fan speed, you need to install 4 pin PWM fans, your splitter should also be of the four pin PWM type. Using the 3 pin splitter, you would be able to control the fan speed using a program like SpeedFan but the ASUS Fan Xpert software probably won't work with the three pin fans. (Three pin fan speed is controlled by voltage changes, the PWM fans are controlled by pulses sent from the controller, whole different ball game)

My ASUS FanExpert software controls my three pin fans very well.

I have an ASUS mobo that controls the speed of the 3-pin fans that I already have
