External hard drive not showing

Hey guys.

I recently bought a new Toshiba external hard drive but when I plug it into my desktop I can hear the sound of it getting detected, but it's not showing up so I can't access it.

Any idea what to do?

Edit: Plugged it into my laptop, works perfectly fine on that. Still not working on my desktop though :/

Have you tried looking at it in the Disk Management?

Yeah I looked in the disk manager, only thing I see there is my C drive

Try plugging it in to other USB slots.

Just tried that, same in every usb slot, can hear the sound of it connecting but no results.

Does the external HDD run off of any other power than USB?

Does it show up as a disk drive in device management?

Just pure usb, and yes it shows up as a disk drive in device manager.

Do you hear any weird sounds coming from the external drive?

Nope, nothing. It's completely new as I've just received it today, tested it on my laptop to see if it actually worked and it works perfectly on that.

Does it show up in Windows Explorer?

No, not on my desktop at least, only shows in the drive manager and that's it, I had a similar issue with my usb-pen a while ago but that showed up in the disk manager so I was able to change the drive path. If I have to make a guess it would assume it's because it haven't been assigned a drive path.

If it shows up in device manager then you should be able to it's properties.

Go to device manager.
Right click on the drive.
Select Properties.
