Hyper 212 Evo cooler and 970A-DS3P MOBO

I have just brought an after market cooler (named above) and I seem to be having one or two problems with it. One being that the bracket which holds the cooler in place seems to be too small to reach the screws which came with it. I have attached photos below of how small the gap between it is but I'm worried that it maybe unusable with the mobo, another problem I seem to be having is the bracket not actually holding in place when putting into the bottom of the cooler.

Am I doing something wrong?

The screws in the bracket can be put into multiple positions. Make sure you are using the right location for the screws. They should move fairly easily.

Read the manual for which position the screws need to be in, for my AM3+ mobo, they had to be in the middle position.

Ah, thanks, my bad. Any idea on the other problem though? I unscrewed the middle bit and it fell apart but i think I put it back together properly but its not going in and holding

Well, I never unscrewed the bracket on mine, but if it won't hold together, recheck because it may not be re-assembled correctly.

I unscrewed it accidentally when trying to push it into the cooler. Do I need to place the cooler on the CPU first then apply the bracket? I compared it to ones in videos and photos and it appears okay, I can upload photos soon. I also now cant seem to be able to move the screws up a space, how do I actually do it?

Yes, the cooler goes on top of the CPU, and the bracket on top of the cooler, and is screwed down, holding it in place.

So, if I screw it in it should stay in place right? the middle bit shouldnt lock in place?

There may be a dimple in the middle of the cooler where the bracket holds it down, to make sure it is centered. Once all four screws are in, it's not going anywhere.

Ah, thank you! That's where I was going wrong, I thought it was there to locked in place before placing it in. Thanks for helping me out, I should be able to put it in without a problem tomorrow now
