So I am currently thinking of upgrading my computer components and would like to know if my CPU will bottleneck the new GPU I am thinking of getting; I currently have an AMD A8-5500 APU and I want to turn off the GPU in the APU and put in a new Asus Nvidia GTX 770 GPU. How can I tell if the CPU will bottleneck the GPU and will the new GPU even work properly?

It won't bottleneck it, by normal definition. A better CPU will get you better performance, but it won't restrict it from getting to 99-100% usage.
