Hi,
I am building a £400 mid-range gaming pc that will be used predominantly for gaming and multitasking itunes, skype, word and other programmes (When I am not gaming). I wanted your help and opinions about part compatibility and any improvements or savings that could be made.
Components:
AMD FX-6350 3.9GHz Hexa Core Processor - £100
Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 AMD Socket AM3+ Motherboard - £61.42
Ram as needed (about 8gb) not sure what brand or type?
WD 1TB 3.5 inch Internal Hard Drive - Caviar Blue - £47.84
CnM SATA DVD RW Internal (Internal CD reader) - £39.99
Laptone Wireless Internet USB Adaptor WiFi Dongle 300Mbps - £9.99
CiT Vantage PC Case Black - £39.99
Corsair CX500M 500 W ATX 80+ Bronze PC Power Supply - £53.99

Also I know AMD have on board graphics however would it be worthwhile buying a Graphics card?
Thanks for your help it will all be appreciated.

PS Don't need to worry about an OS I already have one :)

Solution
I would drop the CPU down to a 6300, as the 6350 is only a tad bit faster, and just an overclocked 6300. With the money saved, put it towards a GPU, if budget is an issue, a 7770/7790 would work, but if you have a little more to spend, a r9 260x, r9 270/x, or a GTX 760 would work.

As for RAM, I would go with G.Skill, or Corsair; a 2x4GB (8GB total) kit.

Hey there,

I'm not too competent in computers, But if you do want a gaming pc then you will need a graphics card, However you should always look if the psu can support it.

For the ram go look at Kingston or Corsair. Also check if everything supports eachother, (not saying you do but this is an example) If you had a SATA motherboard And you bought an IDE HDD whats the point right?

I thought I would comment to get the real clever guys in!
Hope you have a fabulous pc

Any of the GPUs I listed will be compatible with your system.

AMD vs Nvidia comes down to personal preference. AMD is getting up there in performance, but have a larger power draw, and tend to run hotter. Nvidia draws less power, is usually faster, run cooler, but they're priced a bit higher.

Corsair has been my favorite brand of RAM, but they can get a tad bit expensive.
