GPU Artifacting still?

So I recently got my HD7870 back from ASUS after deciding that my experience with a ASRock motherboard I purchased 970 Extreme3 R2.0 might have had a hand in it's potential demise.

I had also sent the Mobo back for a refund, and bought a GIGABYTE 970A UD3P motherboard.

And after installing my drivers, and AMD's 13.12 drivers I noticed artifacting of sorts. I hadn't even gotten around to checking the OC settings on the GPU.

Anyone know what in all hell could be causing it?
I'm using a OCZ 700w ModXPro Semi-Modular PSU with I think 80+ Certified

Could it be my PSU? I'm using a 6+2 Pci-E cord + another 6pin PCI-E cord.
I really can't figure out what is wrong other then maybe the PSU.

Are they known for pulling shit like this?
Because apparently I only get one repair free up front.

I'm not playing any games with people. This is not cool.

The operating temps for as cool as a cucumber before. I'm scared to even turn the damned thing on right now.

It started as being fine for a couple minutes, while I'm updating everything, then shortly after installing the proper AMD drivers it starts bugging the hell out.

It ends up being mild tearing in the display image. And then eventually the damned GPU would lock up and just display a bunch of vertical lines of varying colors.
I explained this shit in great detail when I sent it in, hell they ASKED me to do so on my RMA form that I put in the frigin box.

Did I mistake in color code matching my PCI-E cables? Should I have just plugged them into the black power blocks on my PSU?

Both of the PCI-E Cables are plugged into the 2vx3 and like 3-4 GRND Red power blocks on the PSU. I'd be jubilant if it was user error on my part, rather then having to find some way to finagle in another free repair from ASUS. I would've RMA'd directly through Newegg, but ASUS having me cut the UPC out of my box for Rebate outright invalidated that route, which is why I ended up sending it in to ASUS.

I worked up the bravery to boot it up, and it finally went to the point of seizing up.

I felt the card, and the front quarter of it felt ice cold, but toward the back of the PCB near the PCI-E slot, it was hot to the touch, almost painful to the touch, the card also didn't seem to be running it's fan at full tilt despite this temperature.

I'll wait until tomorrow probably to boot the PC up again, and see if it starts artifacting again, or I might just call ASUS and complain that they didn't resolve the issue to begin with.
