I don't mind learning how to move in a new OS but there are way to many as I see it unnecessary changes. I was upset about minor tweaks, like Add or Remove programs being changed to Programs and Features. Why take something so simple and obvious and obfuscate it behind another menu item? And those were relatively minor changes between relatively similar OS's (was that change XP to Vista??), W8 is leaps and bounds different from W7. And don't even get me started about supporting it as a business, I connected to a 2012 server when it was fresh and I had not used the Win 8 type interface before. Even as a (self-proclaimed ;)) troubleshooting expert, how am I supposed to know my only way to the "start" menu I have used for decades is with the damn desktop key, a key that has been disrupting my work (see: gaming :p) for decades!

I will learn it someday, I am currently subscribing to "ain't broke don't fix" though. Can't really see everything moving to touch though, I don't know if my clunky fingers could ever provide the precision of a mouse.

Add and Remove has been Program and Features since Vista.

As for 7 vs 8, The major difference is the Start Menu vs the Start Screen. The rest is mostly back end stuff you will never see.

How are you seeing the performance and security enhancement to the kernel of the OS? That's where a lot of changes were done in how it handles things.

Only other visual changes were the Task Manager (in a good way with more information), the Explorer no uses ribbon based menus which I am fine with and the login screen, which I never see since I only have one local account.
