Anyway to output audio only on HDMI?

I live in a studio apartment and am therefore afforded unique layout opportunities. Basically, my desk is between my front speakers and rear speakers. These are floorstanding home theater speakers plugged into an AVR that goes directly to my GPU HDMI port. Anyways, I would like to know if it is possible to use the AVR as a sound device only through HDMI without using the display capabilities. It's quite possible with optical or the line out, but HDMI is an all in one that I use for the projector. Sometimes I just want to listen to music while using my monitor instead. The only way to achieve this right now is to duplicate or extend the screens. Disabling the AVR automatically disables the AVR as a sound device.

Thanks.

It would be nice if it was that easy, although maybe I didn't make it clear enough. Disabling the display (AVR) in the Control Panel or Windows button+p removes the AVR from the listed sound devices. The two are unfortunately interconnected.
