I'd like some advice on putting together a triple monitor gaming rig. I will be using three 30inch monitors (in landscape) giving a resolution of 7680 by 1600. This is primarily a gaming rig, and I want to be able to play with all setting maxed out. Currently I play:
Star Trek Online
Skyrim/Elder Scrolls Online (when it comes out)
Here's some info on the key pieces of hardware:
Processer: Intel i7 4930K Six-core 3.4/3.9 GHz
Video Card(s): NVidia GTX 780Ti 9gb x3 in SLI
I'm not going to build this rig myself (maybe someday when I retire) I'll be using a company called Maingear on the East Coast, they've gotten solid reviews. However I need to make some decisions on hardware, based on my limited knowledge and research this seems like the best option.
What decisions do you need to make? So far your CPU and GPU selections are the best money can buy.
Would Titans be better; or is there a card by AMD I should check out. Does the processor make that big of a difference or is performance mostly based on the card(s)? If the processor is key should I consider the 4960X?
You could look into the 290x. It has 1 more Gb of VRAM which could play a role at the resolutions you plan to play at. The CPU does matter, not as much as the GPU solution though. I'm guessing the difference between the 4930x and 4960x is just clock speeds so no, it is not worth it. You won't see a difference with that small of an upgrade in CPU.
