just bought my first computer to build from a newegg.com combo that all came together. assembled and got it all together and all cables snug. Since this was my first build, i had a friend who has built multiple setups, help me. getting no posts and no display on my monitor

my computer monitor only has the old VGA blue and white connectors. I have also replaced the motherboard already because that model has had issues and it was replaced free of charge.

this is my current setup : http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1525549

please help if you can. the motherboard is connected with a 4 pin and the 24 pin

I see, have you tried the breadboarding test? to mount the mobo over a cardboard box like the mobo's box with only CPU, 1 ram stick, PSU and the GPU? the symptom of having leds and fans working but no post is most of the times a grounding issue.

While breaboarding if you still get no post, try it without the GPU, you should get a beep code indicating the lack of GPU, if there's no beep (and you're sure your speaker is correctly connected and working) then test it with only CPU, this time you should get a memory beep code, this to see which main part of your system is the culprit of not getting a successful post.

thanks for the tips. unfortunately i went through the steps you linked and also looked through a couple threads attached to that one, but to no avail. As far as power distribution everything is lighting up as far as all the LEDs and all four fans on the case and cpu. i hear everything running individually from the HD to the cpu and optical drive. my monitor recognizes that there is a connection to the motherboard but is still showing nothing. i tried just 1 of each memory stick. relooked over the condition of pins from the processor and everything looked on the straight and narrow. im getting closer to squandering $ on some over paid diagnostic that im sure will embarass the crap out of me
