Can my Windows 7 OS Key be used again once deactivated?

Solution

When you install. Either it will activate, or say no, and give you the option to activate by phone.
It will put up a long string of numbers. Different than the activation key. You read them into the phone, and then it reads a long string back that you enter into the relevant boxes.

If/when it works.....poof, you're activated.

Reinstalled on the same PC? No problem.
Install on a different PC (different motherboard)? Technically no. But MS is generally pretty lenient about allowing reactivation. You'd almost certainly have to activate via the phone robot.

Try the online activation. If it fails, it should fess up a semi-local phone number.
