Hi, moving on from this thread: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2013171/maxed-...

I have moved onto checking both device manager and disk management but the hdd is not showing in either one.

Keep in mind this hdd is not even a month old.

I reached the maximum 1tb while recording avi's, explorer then crashed as I tried to remove some stuff so I then moved onto resetting the PC.. Now can't get passed "Starting Windows" while the data cable is plugged into the hdd.

More about : hdd appearing device manager disk management appears bios

I read the other thread.

1.) In BIOS, highlight the drive and press enter, so it goes to the configuration screen. Make sure its on AUTO.
2.) Did you try attaching the drive via an external link? Like a USB adapter, external case, etc.

Did you install the drive software that came with it? Also what version of windows?

Hi, everything in the BIOS seems to be on auto in the SATA section.

I have not done anything other than use the same cables as I would usually use, although I tried changing SATA ports and no luck with that.

No driver software came with the hdd, and I'm on Windows 7

Please if anyone has absolutely anything they can think of I would greatly appreciate your input!

When windows is stuck in "starting windows" (while the data cable is plugged in to the hdd).. if I unplug the data cable it boots up right away?

By any chance had you changed the SATA device mode from IDE/SATA or vice versa? Or had you restored the CMOS to default?

I did none of those :)  I had to re install Intel Rapid Storage then i taken control of the hdd, then did chkdsk for the drive and that allowed me to re partition the drive :)
