Trying to decide between the i7-4770k vs the i7-4820k for a photo-editing rig. They are roughly the same price (about $40 more for the 4820 + MoBo). I am interested in the benefits of the quad channel memory of the 4820 vs the dual channel memory of the 4770. Would I ever notice this in real world applications? I am pushing some pretty huge files through Photoshop and Lightroom (and occasionally InDesign, Illustrator, and Edge).

The 4820 has the advantage of being upgradable whereas the 4770 does not. I personally did not notice any difference in actual performance going from 2 sticks (dual channel) to 4 sticks (quad) of RAM in my setup (4930k), but I do video editing rather than photo editing. When I deal with Photoshop files, I do have a complex file as I use them for making box art and disc art and I have tons of layers (maybe 40+). There is no slowdown, however, those same files run just as smooth on my laptop and on the old desktop which was a Q6600 with 8GB DDR2. My Photoshop file sizes are around 70MB, so not exactly large, but not small either.
