No performance gain with crossfirex
razorvlades
Hi, I just installed another radeon 7870 ghz edition using crossfirex and I have crossfire enabled and both cards are running, but I get no performance gain in any game, sometimes I get even worse fps. I have the logo enabled so I know when crossfire is working, and it shows up in sleeping dogs and saints row the third, but not in battlefield 4 or saints row IV. How can I make this work?
My specs are:
i5-4670k
asrock Z87 extreme 3 mobo
8gb ram
2 amd radeon 7870 ghz editons
corsair cx750 psu

So, I was looking in MSI afterburner, and in BF4 I can confirm crossfire is not working because GPU2 is at 0% usage and GPU1 is at 100%. So no FPS increase there. (It should work in BF4 though...). Then in Saints Row: The Third, crossfire is working, but my FPS is worse than with one GPU...

Both GPUs are being used, they both maxed at what looks like 86% in afterburner (could be 96%, my monitor is old and dying), so I'm not sure why you aren't getting any performance increases. I'll keep looking.
its 86% which still means they are both being almost maxed out. -
So I did some more testing. CrossfireX works perfect in Skyrim, and Metro: Last Light so far. It doesnt change in saints row the third and even sometimes is worse in xfire mode. The crossfirex banner doesnt even show up in Battlefield 4, so the FPS is the same since only one GPU is going when playing BF4. So now I just need to fix it in BF4, since SR3 already runs at 60+ fps.

So Saint's Row 3 does not utilize crossfire, and that's why you aren't getting any performance boost. BF4 does, hence the higher fps.
