I recently got my brother a 128GB Samsung 840 PRO SSD for his system. Using partition wizard, I copied the data from his HDD to the SSD, but the SSD wouldn't boot. I was, however, able to boot from the HDD after manually selecting to do so in the system BIOS (The computer uses a Gigabyte H61N-USB3 motherboard). I thought there might have been a problem when transferring the data from the HDD to the SSD, so I loaded up the install disk to a USB 3.0 flash drive, and ran a system repair.
System repair told me it could not fix anything, so I tried to boot up off of the HDD. However, now the HDD prompted me to put back the Windows 7 install software and run repair again. After doing as it instructed, the HDD gives me the same message.
At this point, I said "Forget it", and decided just to do a clean install to the SSD (I could access my brother's HDD's files from my computer, and therefore no important documents would be lost). Windows seemed to have other ideas. It told me that it could not form a partition and install itself on the drive, even though I had wiped it and enabled ACHI mode in the BIOS.
Nothing I have looked up or tried has worked at this point, and it's been like this for a few days. My brother is growing inpatient, and I need to get this working as soon as possible. Can anyone help me?
