Ram, ram slots or mobo? M5A97 R2.0

I started my first build and while testing I ran into memory problems, here are some key points:

1. The MemOK! LED stays lit

2. I am getting memory beep codes

3. I have tried the MemOK! Test and after it is done the LED remains lit

4. I have reseated the RAM in all slots

5. I have cleaned the RAM with a cotton cloth (can I use 70% alcohol?)

6. I have reset the BIOS through the jumper method using the jumpers

7. I have latest BIOS 2201

8. I got the RAM from Staples just the first DDR3 4GB I saw

9. I have one DDR3 4GB stick

10. Specs:

Mobo- M5A97 R2.0

CPU- FX-6300 3.5Ghz

GPU- msi GTX 770 2GB (was not connected when testing was done)

hard drive- seagate 1TB

Power supply- 620 Antec bronze certified

If it doesn't work in either slot 1 or 2, then would try and borrow a stick from someone or see if you can try the stick in another computer, that will let you know if it's the stick itself...another possible is you have sticky slots (overly tight) so insert the stick firmly and let the clips lock themselves on. Might also be a short, so might want to pull the guts and bench it, have a guide that might help here:

Let the clips clip themselves on? What do you mean?

when you insert the DRAM there's a clip at each end that locks the DRAM into the slots, if fully inserted, the clips will lock themselves into place

H well yea that's what ive been doing, so I should borrow some RAM and test that way? And RAM from Staples works in most machines right?

Depends on the DRAM, for the most part, what I've seen is lower end value DRAM, Kingston, Corsair, Acer, HP, Edge, and think what's a house brand called Add-On or some such thing
