Heat spreader removal

I'm was about to pick up some memory (Kingston XMP Beast Series 16GB 2400MHz DDR3) for my new build. But I'd also be using a Dark Rock Pro 3 CPU cooler, which overhangs the DIMM slots.

Not sure if this RAM would fit with the heat spreader on but could I take it off and, more importantly, would it be safe to do so considering the RAM would be running at 2400MHz?....

Thanks.

Solution
Might look at the Egg, last I looked the Tridents were $5 less and if I remember right the Hyper Beast are a slower CL11 vs the Tridents tighter CL10....regardless, it's your call, all we can do is try and help ;)

While most heatspreaders are more for aesthetics than actual function, I wouldn't recommend removing them. Depending on the manufacturer, I've seen cases where people taking off the spreaders have pulled ram chips off the PCB, ruining the stick. As much as it sucks, replacing your RAM is a better alternative.

OK, so I'm gonna be using an ASUS maximus VI formula and the Dark Rock with the Kingston Beast RAM. You reckon there'll be enough clearance there. If there isn't, what's the stop me slicing a bit of the top of the spreader with a hack saw if needed?...

Good point, maybe it'll just squeeze under the DRP3.......

Get some low profile memory if you can, alternative solution as previously mentioned is just raise the fan a few heatsink fins higher, off-centered slightly as it uses wire clip-ons. Will only have to raise the fan a smidge and wont impact cooling performance at all.

Had a look at the G.Skills, I reckon the Kingstons are much prettier though :p (and less costly)
Are they really better for Haswell though?

So, who thinks they'll fit then?

And would I notice a huge deal of difference with 1600MHz vs 2400MHz DIMMS - might go for the cheaper/slower corsair vengeance low-profile DIMMs instead of the 2400 Kingstons.......?
Thanks.
