I'm not sure, but i heard a lot of positive feedback about the Nvidia shield but the Tegra K1 is just AWESOME, so do you think that the Tegra K1 will be with a newer version of Shield?

nvidia might iterate on the shield. honestly i'd wait. the tegra 3 shield isn't going anywhere and if they come out with a tegra k1 shield, you'd just be kicking yourself.

my money is on them releasing a k1 equipped shield. it would make sense considering they developed a keplar based tegra chip.

When do you expect that to be announced or even released?
I expect a new Nvidia shield to be announced at an upcoming convention like PAX.

your guess would be as good as mine. They didn't announce shield until midway through tegra 3's life cycle. tegra k1 is due this summer, so my guess would be around holiday season this year, at the earliest. I'd assume they'd announce it by summer the latest, but this is all just a guessing game for now.

Actually, the current processor is a Tegra 4 which is in the current shield.

Sorry I just needed to say that

My guess is July or August. The new shields might be announced at pax or MWC. Remember, the last shield was shown in Jan and shipped in August. So expect to wait maybe 6 months. The current shield is pretty awesome - I own one, and it does so many things very well. One strategy would be to buy one today and then upgrade after 6 months. If you upgrade you graphics board too, you could get the shield for as little as 199 or 149.

What would you expect a new shield to have?

I expect it to be more portable, and a camera maybe.

But it would be REALLY cool if there was some kind of detachable screen to play portrait orientation games such as temple run, but that would probably be way too expensive
