I've googled this but all I get are issues with wireless connections. My connection is WIRED. I just finished setting up my new PC and all I did was unplug my Ethernet cord from the old PC and put it in the new one. But Windows 8.1 isn't connecting and doesn't even recognize my router. It says "no connections are available".

Also, I clicked on Troubleshoot and got the following message "Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter. If you have a network adapter, you will need to re-install the driver."

"If you're setting up a new PC for the first time, check if your router is fully compatible with Windows. Because of the new networking features in Windows, some older network routers aren't fully compatible and can cause problems. "
