Hey,

Later today I will go for a upgrade from M5A97 R2.0 since I have some issues but in my country there is currently available only 990FX without R2.0. Is there any significant difference ? Does 990FX supports Windows 8 and CPU's from 9xxx series ?

I wanted m5a99fx pro r2.0 but as usually they dont have it anymore.

But so far I cant find that 990FX Revision 1 supports CPU's from 9xxx series ? Since I'm making this move it's obvious that I'm choosing AMD platform for upcoming years so is this right move or I should seek mobo which supports 9xxx series since I wouldnt like for next upgrade to buy new mobo.

On the other hand M5A99FX PRO R2.0 is cheaper by 65$ here and from what I see it does support 9xxx series. I'm confused since Sabertooth was on a really good word. Only differences are that 99FX is on 6+2 phase while Sabertooth Revision 1 8+2. Is that really making a difference ?

I have FX8350 and I would like to oc him as max as I can with my EVO212, 4.5 would be satisfying. I guess we cant talk about upcoming CPU's but if I buy something that would be near next New Year and until then I guess we could see new socket so making this choice isnt really important ?

Thanks unknownofprob for answer !

Just concerned about further upgrades as I said. If I go for Sabertooth I would like to have upgrade options on paper even though I doubt that I will upgrade in next couple months. I'm always buying things which are "limited" on some way. I do understand that 9xxx series are just more oc'ed but who knows, if they publish new cpu from 9xxx series with good performances I would like to have mobo which supports 9xxx series.

Thanks for explanation once again.

it'll support the 9xxx series, if they make new CPU's then it'll probably be a totally new socket. But if they re-publish more 9xxx CPU's then it'll be the same am3+ Socket, as the current 9xxx series is the same socket. No-one would want to buy a new motherboard if new 9xxx series CPU's were released, so if it were to happen then it'll be on that socket and will work with the Sabertooth REV 1 and 2 motherbaords. Hope that helps.

Small update, would you recommend me 990X Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 Rev 1.2 at all ? It's 90$ cheaper, and If I go for that one it would be only for current fx8350 but I would get ssd 120gb since I dont have it. Does this mobo have everything for fx8350 average overclocking ?

Thanks for explanation lucid_gamer. I ordered GA-990-FXA-UD3 Rev 1.2 after all since I didnt had choices, literally. I heard a lot of common issues with UD3 motherboards related to vram overheating and so on but hopefully I will have luck. From what I've found fx8350 is supported, win8.1 aswel and I've even found successful overclocker on 4.7/4.8.

Well Since Gigabyte Came into your list, i own a Gigabyte and I must say I'm impressed with it's performance and prices. At least with Gigabyte you don't have to stuff around with the bios.

I'm kinda afraid of Gigabyte but hopefully it will be fine. Since I have this thread opened, which supply is better ?

http://www.lc-power.de/index.php?id=197

http://raidmax.com/psu/rx_635ap.html

I do have Raidmax at the moment but I'm afraid that my casual restarts while I'm watching streams on twitch and being unable to overclock fx8350 over 4.0 at any voltage/settings that problem could be my PSU. Unfortunately I'm really short on budget and to be able to confirm this I paid 90$ for LC PSU on suggestion from "friend" who works at PC shop. It's not modular which could cause me issues with airflaw and all those cables I agree but I see better combinied power and on paper all numbers are higher.

Could that run my configuration fine without any upgrades at the moment with overclocked fx8350 on 4.6ghz max ?

I wanted cooler master 750w PSU but as I said budget is really bad :)

Also if I switch for i7 4770k / 770 or 780 gtx somewhere at the end of the year will I need better supply ? CPU will use less then fx8350 gpu maybe around 30w more. Thanks for help !

uh, i would avoid those brands and certainly not put them into a build. With your parts (even with a high end card) you can get by a 650 watt PSU as the parts will draw under that, I would only recommend corsair or Antec PSU's, you can find 650 watt ones for a bit more money but they have large warranty periods and are a very reliable provider with excellent quality.

Well I agree with you, and thank you for recommending me those brands. But if you need to choose between those two which one would you get ?

Here in Serbia if you ask for Corsair or Antec you will get 50% higher prices. And here LC is for some reason one of better PSU's. When I start with new build I will definitely get everything outside of country even if I need to pay really high shipping. I'm in cage here, at the moment I cant go better.

Where would you buy the PSU From? Linking a site would be good. I would go for whichever is cheaper and has their 5-year warranty. I would Actually go Antec as they will be cheaper for their high current gaming PSU's and are very reliable with exceptional performance, i have an Antec High Current Gaming PSU 900 watt.

If 80+GOLD 650 Watt is at a good price for you, then it is defiantly worth it as it isn't worth going cheap on the PSU as when it blows up, you can loose your machine and it will be costly, Might as well get a high quality reasonably priced psu.

It wont help. Store is called "WinWin" ( winwin.rs ), they are getting components from other city in my country and who know where from else.

It's not on english but specifications are, would you recommend me this ?

And could that PSU actually be enough for i7 4770k + 2x GTX770 sometimes in future ?

This is best which I found and I'm ready to throw money. Although I got my Silent Giant and everything works fine for now.

Ok thanks, I will have that PSU on my list for next upgrade then. This current LC is working fine with 7950, I will see tomorrow with GTX770 and at the same time my friend will bring me exactly that Chieftec PSU with 950w to test FX8350 overclock in case that I still cant overlock CPU even with new motherboard.
