I want to upgrade GPU from Radeon 6950 to GTX 780 but I have found a handful of post reporting poor performance in WoW. I don't want to spend $500 for poor performance as WoW is one of the main games I play. Advice would be greatly appreciated.

6950 does well for the most part but there are certain fights where I see lag. The 6950 is going to my stepson and his is going into a build for my 6 year old daughters birthday. I want something where I'll be good for awhile.

Agree with Embra, the 6950 should be running WoW well enough and the rest of the system is easily up to the task, if you're planning the upgrade for ESO I suggest you hold fire and wait until you see how your current rig performs before making a possibly costly mistake.
Of course if you're going to start playing graphically intense games like FC3, TR, BF4 etc then the GTX780/770 makes perfect sense and I'll suggest you go for the GTX770.

I've played ESO in beta and will again this weekend in fact. Runs smooth looks good. I'm going to have to buy a GPU either way just wanted a nice upgrade for myself. As far as gaming in the future, probably mostly MMOs.

Ok so I went with

Running WoW on Ultra now with great stability and no lag so far but was expecting better fps. Am I missing something (settings, bottleneck) or am I just being overly critical?
