I'm looking to buy a new graphic card for gaming, So I was wondering between these 2 which one is better and for what and why? Gigabyte AMD Radeon R9 270X OC and Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760

Best solution

a b U Graphics card

Hi, the GTX 760 might be a tad bit faster than the R9 270 so the deciding factor would have to be price and the amount of Vram on either card. Some might chime in later about Mantle giving the AMD card the advantage but at this moment the majority of performance increases with Mantle have been with low end cpu's. Plus a lot of users have been reporting problems and the only game that supports it at this time is Battlefield 4.
Here is a bench comparison between the two cards:

The GTX 760 is the better in gaming in the vast majority of cases.

This review surprised me, it turns out the AMD card beats the GTX 760 card in a few titles one of them with +10 fps and also it beats the GTX 760 by a large margin in some software benchmarks. I certainly didn't expect to see that!
I would have never though an AMD card would beat an nVidia card in video rendering software performance.

Most games will be faster on the gtx 760, but as you say, anything OpenCL tends to be faster on AMD cards.

Any idea how much of performance increase a cpu can receive from Mantle? Are there any benchmarks?

It makes anything up to 40% difference on low end APUs coupled with a good GPU. On higher end systems its looking like around 10%.

But dont bank on other developers making games for mantle. I cant see any games being made Mantle native (because that would remove a huge customer base), and for many they simply dont want to spend the time or the resources, when they already have to program for DirectX. IMO.
