Hi everyone,
Our tower out in the living room has been experiencing some random "skips", I don't know how to describe them, it's like a few frames of lag/audio distortion, and the whole system will freeze on-screen for those affected frames. This mainly happens when we're playing videos.
First thing I did was make sure the system resources weren't being hogged up, but even after freeing up everything that wasn't essential, it was still happening. I ran ccleaner, defrag, malwarebytes, spybot, combofix; I'm pretty sure it's not any malware related issue, but just to be thorough I did it anyway, but no luck. Next, I checked speedfan and saw that CPU was running fine, around 40°C, but GPU was running a bit hot at 50°C. I dusted everything, especially the GPU (nVidia 550 TI), and reinstalled; same problem. I swapped with my own GPU, same model, and same issue; also, it started running hot as well, at around 50°C after I started playing videos. Finally, I bridged them via SLI (I know it might not help in this application, but I was hoping it would reduce the stress on the cards), but still same issue. I'm beginning to wonder if the issue isn't with the GPUs? Any opinions? It's driving my wife crazy, and her complaining is driving me crazy haha.
CPU: i5-3570K
Mobo: ASRock Z77 Extreme4
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (4 x 2GB)
PSU: Cooler Master GX - 750W 80+ Bronze
