Hi,

I've recently bought a MSI radeon R9 270 and after installing it the monitor shows no response on startup and remains just black, no bios no sound nothing, the fans on the GPU, CPU and case start spinning and that's it.

I have an I5 4670 and a 650w bronze power supply with 22A on the two 12v rails, my GPU only requires one 6 pin power connector.

Also I should mention that the screen remains black regardless if I use the motherboard vga output or the GPU's,(I connect it to my tv with an hdmi cable), if I disconnect the power from my GPU the display works fine with the onboard graphics, if I restart with the 6 pin connected to the gpu it doesn't give signal, regardless if the hdmi cable is connected to the GPU or the motherboard. I had already asked http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2004838/power-... if the power supply was ok and I was told that it would work fine.

Please help.

I fixed the problem by using a DVI cable instead of the HDMI one if anyone is interested.

try installing the new CCC driver and make sure the HDMI driver gets installed too. anyways id say keep using DVI since its basically the same thing, and it works fine (ive always had scaling and various issues using HDMI)

I had same problem with MSI R9270x after switching from xp 32 to win7 64.

It turned out that after driver installation dvi outputs "swap" positions, so I just had to use another one...

Keep in mind that if you wanna connect tv to gpu, than tv must be connected on that "working" dvi output since it becomes display 1 (default display output). In that case you have to pick display 2 as your primary display (in Catalyst) and all works perfectly.

I hope this helps.
