Hi Forum

They say when bad luck come; they usually comes from Ebay....

I bought an ASUS Rampage II Extreme Motherboard with I7 920 intel CPU my current configuration as follow:

CONFIGURATION:

RAM 2x4GB total 8 GB installed in DIMM_A1 DIMM_B1 bank's of motherboards DDR3

NVIDIA GeForce GTX460 (EVEA) graphic cards

The power supply 850 Watt along with
CORSAIR HS5 Water cooler heat sink.

PROBLEM:

after switching power ON system does not show sign of life

according to manual provided by manufacturer:

1/ A CPU LED supposed to be an extreme left side upper corner is NOT install or appear to does not exits.
2/North bridge LED depicted next below memory modules does not seems to appear ON
3/ There are two LED next to the IDE connector on the mBoard is ON
4/ There is next to BIOS chip (2) there is LED is ON

After powering ON the board does not show any life of sign on the screen although there were three FAN seem to be running perfectly
The ROG (republic of Gamer) heat sink display light on the top itself.

TESTED

1/ Without memory module the M Board seems to beep twice and continues to beep twice.
2/ After removing Display Adaptor Tested again for non display. But there is NO Beep at all

Currently there is nothing except display adaptor connected to board and is not responding to power ON

Please advice accordingly to get up and running this board successful.
I hope there is still sign of life in the M board as this board came with Intel CPU i7 920 pre-installed.

thank you,

1) Why have you posted this in Linux forum? THIS IS LINUX FORUM
2) Only have this advice as something similar has happened to friend of mine.
Unplug everything, leave powered off for several minutes.
Reconnect and make sure no shorts are happening.

Happened to a friend of mine: a incorrectly mounted screw was shorting the board.

Thanks for quick note.... I am using for Linux OS any way..
All the base screws are correctly aligned and they are partially tight not fully tight.
The M board fit perfectly in the Case and as I also have HS5 WaterCooler heat sink attached to MBoard's CPU. can you able to give a clue that the Corsair HS5 watercooler unit is right heat sink for the this set up?
Thank you,

I had this happen recently. Fans spun but computer did not POST or boot. The problem was faulty PSU. See if you can swap the PSU from another PC.
