Hi there!

Could you please help with some advice.

Samsung SyncMaster 510 mp 15" LCD Computer Monitor TV.

What could be the possible cause of these lines ?

It happens when I start the PC and sometimes when I leave my PC on, but turn the Screen off and

then when I turn the Screen back on.

But when I reboot my PC it then works properly again.

And one another things is, when my Screen turns like that, if I reconnect my Screen to my Laptop

it works fine and when I connect it back to PC it starts working fine again.

Thanks mate. I was thinking about trying to replace the cable too. I'll borrow the cable from a friend and will post the result. But how to examine the VGA port ? Is it enough just looking at it closely for any visual damage ?

Thanks for reply.

I've tried different VGA cable, but it's all the same, the lines are still there, although I would like to repeat again, the lines are only there for some unknown reason, because they do disappear once I reboot the system.

And how shall I check whether my VGA port is malfunctioning ?

Thank again.

Sorry mate, I didn't get you. If you were referring to images I posted, both of them from the same monitor.

This Samsung SyncMaster 510 mp 15" LCD Computer Monitor TV, to things combined in one. For instance, if I'd like to watch a TV I have to connect the antenna to the monitor and switch to TV channel by pressing the button on the monitor, but I haven't been using TV part of it for a long time already.

my point was to isolate the problem. if the PC makes lines no matter WHAT monitor its hooked up to, then the problem is in the PC clearly. IF the problem went away when connected to a different monitor, and only happened when hooked up to yours, then i would say the monitor is the problem.

Thanks for advice, I think it's definitely something to do with the Monitor, because I tried different cable and tried to connect my Monitor to a LapTop and the lines are still there.

Now what could be wrong or malfunctioning in my Monitor ? Is it worth looking for the cause of the problem by opening up the Monitor, or is it worth just buying another one ? The Monitor is still working though, it just needs unplugging and plugging back the VGA cable to the PC, then lines disappear.

Thank you.
